History

In '63 entrepreneur Ahmed Pochee starts up a small business delivering bin-ends and oddments of wine to the restaurants and clubs of London's West End. Later, Neil Armstrong lands on the moon and a horse wins the Grand National...

In the Seventies Oddbins, snapped up by new owners Dennis Ing and Nick Baile, introduces Britain to the wines of Portugal and the South of France. The company expands into Scotland, the West Country and the North West with wooden floors and wacky blackboards.

The Sex Pistols rock Bill Grundy's world and a beauty queen says she wants to end poverty and see world peace...

In the Eighties, Oddbins, now owned by Seagram and sporting 100 stores, becomes the first company to bring Australian wine and Ralph Steadman onto the UK high street. Oddbins is awarded Wine Merchant of the Year at the International Wine Challenge for the first time in 1988, the first of 12 such awards. The Berlin Wall comes down and some of the songs on Eurovision aren't any good...

In the Nineties, Oddbins holds its first consumer Wine Fair in London. It's such a success we decide to hold two each year, with one in London and one in Edinburgh. Shops open in Calais and Dublin and '98 sees the first Oddbins Wine Fair in Ireland. Mandela is freed and Bill Gates makes a bob or two...

Into the 21st Century, and we start the new millennium as we mean to continue by winning the Wine Merchant of the Year again in 2000 and 2001.

We celebrate by launching Oddbins.com and continue our trend-setting agenda by rediscovering Greek wine. January 2002 brings great excitement as Oddbins comes under the ownership of Castel Frères, one of France’s biggest and best wine producing companies. Vive la différence!

We reserve the right not to accept your order, in which case we will not have any further obligation to you.


We may accept the whole or part of your order, both in respect of the kinds of products ordered and the quantity of products ordered. The price will be reduced accordingly.


We will notify you by email when your order is submitted to us. We will debit your account with the appropriate amount in full on accepting your order. We will be deemed not to have accepted your order until we have debited your account. Even if we accept your order, there will not be any agreement between us if you are under the age of 18 years at the time you submit your order. The sale of the products will occur at the place and the time that particular products are allocated to your order.

We may debit your account for more than the amount stated in the promotion to reflect any increase in the cost of the products for reasons beyond our reasonable control - for example, because of increases in duty or taxation, or adverse currency fluctuations. Any increase in the price will be fair and proportionate.


Our obligation is to deliver the products at the delivery address you have specified in your order to a person who appears to be over the age of 18 and who appears to be authorised to take delivery. We will not despatch the products until we have received cleared funds. Delivery is not available on public holidays. We may deliver the products at any time during the day.


We may use an independent carrier. If there is no one to accept the delivery of your order a card will be left by the carrier so you can arrange a delivery time, directly with the carrier. Ultimately, if the carrier is unable to deliver your order it will be returned to us and you will be charged for it to be redespatched.


All wines are supplied in 75cl bottles and all spirits in 70cl bottles unless otherwise stated.


THE FOLLOWING TERMS LIMIT, AND IN SOME CASES EXCLUDE ALTOGETHER, OUR LIABILITY TO YOU.

We will not have any responsibility or liability for the non-delivery of any products unless either a) all of the products charged for are not delivered, or b) you give us full details of the shortages within 7 working days of the part delivery.


Our total liability to you for the non-delivery of any products is limited to delivering the products to you within 10 days of your telling us about the non-delivery or, at our option, crediting your account with the value of the products not delivered plus the delivery charge. We reserve the right to substitute a product of equal or higher value in the event of supply difficulties. Vintages may vary from those shown.


Our total liability to you in respect of any substitute products which you have told us are not acceptable to you is limited to crediting your account with the amount debited to your account in respect of the substitute products. If the substitute goods are not of a similar kind, and of an equal or higher value, as those described in the promotion we will also credit your account with the delivery charge.


We will not have any responsibility or liability in connection with any defects in the quality of the products unless you give us full details of the defects within 7 days of when the defect ought to have been apparent to you.

Acceptance of your Order

Delivery Information

UK Mainland Delivery:

Please allow 14 days for delivery of products you have purchased on the harrods.com website.

A charge of £5.95 will be made to cover postage and packing on orders sent to a single UK mainland address, with the exception of hampers and gift boxes.

Hampers / Gift Boxes:
There is a charge of £6.50 per non-perishable hamper or gift box and £12.95 per perishable hamper or gift box for delivery within mainland UK. Please note that individual items and hampers or gift boxes may be dispatched separately.

Non Mainland UK Delivery: (includes: Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Scottish Isles)

A charge of £12.95 will be made to cover postage and packing on orders sent to a non-mainland UK address. An individual charge of £12.95 is applicable on individual Hampers and Gift Boxes sent to a single non-mainland UK address.

Large / Bulky Goods / Special Order

Large and bulky goods are subject to additional carriage charges and delivery times may vary. Individual rates and delivery times will be included in the product information for each individual item.

Orders Over 29kg

We are unable to quote a delivery charge online for orders over 29kg, therefore your order will be completed showing £0.00 delivery charge. Our Customer Service team will contact you within 48 hours to advise of the delivery charge before the order is dispatched.

Import Duty

Harrods Ltd cannot be held responsible should local customs authorities wish to confiscate any particular item contained within the hamper, or charge any import duty. The recipient is responsible for paying the duty.

Worldwide Delivery

We offer worldwide delivery on a wide selection of our online merchandise. Most products on the website are exportable. Typically, it is only fresh food, perfume, large and bulky items and alcohol that are exclusive to the UK.

UK VAT will be automatically deducted from merchandise dispatched to non-EU countries. The total deduction will be clearly indicated during the checkout process.

Delivery charges are based on calculated volumetric weight and delivery destination and will be quoted during the checkout process prior to your order being charged. The charge includes a 2% administration charge.

Please allow 14 days for delivery.

We reserve the right to withdraw international delivery at anytime.

We do not currently offer delivery to BFPO addresses.

We cannot be held accountable for delays in customs clearance.

Returns Policy

Unwanted goods may be returned for a refund or exchange if returned in their original condition within 14 days with proof of purchase. Refunds will be made against the original form of tender except in respect of purchases made by cash or gift voucher/gift card which will be refunded by way of a shopping credit. Refunds and exchanges on purchases made on 10% event day are subject to a 10% discount adjustment. Please see in-store for further details.

Sale Goods:
Sale items or special purchases bought in Harrods Sale may be returned for exchange only if returned in their original condition with proof of purchase, during the same Sale period or within 14 days of purchase (whichever is earlier).

Exclusions:
Except in relation to faulty goods the following exceptions apply:
Fine Jewellery and watches may only be returned for exchange or refunded by way of a Shopping Credit. Additional terms and conditions of sale apply to Furniture and Special Order Items. The following may not be returned: custom made goods, beds, bedding , toiletries, cosmetics, fragrances, pierced earrings, hair accessories, swimwear, lingerie/nightwear/underwear, hosiery, millinery, scarves, pharmaceuticals products, woodwind and brass instruments, food, beverages, perishable goods , newspapers and magazines. Audio or video recordings and computers software may only be returned at Harrods discretion (if they have not been unsealed). This does not affect your statutory rights.

Returns Instructions

By Post:

Included with your order is a Returns Form and Returns Label with clear instructions on how to return merchandise to us for refund or exchange. Complete the Returns Form indicating whether you would like a refund or exchange. Package the merchandise to prevent damage, enclosing the Returns Form. Attach the Returns Label and send the merchandise using registered post or other secure method of delivery, retaining the receipt until you have received credit for your return.

Please note that the return costs are not pre-paid. Postage or other return costs will be the customer’s responsibility and will be reimbursed by us only in the case of damaged, faulty or incorrectly supplied goods. You must return the goods, together with their packaging, in the same condition as supplied to you.

Exportable Hampers
We regret that we are unable to deliver perishable Hampers and Gift Boxes outside the UK. Hampers/Gift boxes that are suitable for export are listed throughout the website. Harrods is unable to export hampers to certain countries, please call our order line 0870 732 1234 for details.

Harrods Ltd cannot be held responsible should local custom authorities wish to confiscate any particular item contained within the hamper, or charge any import duty. The recipient is responsible for paying the duty.


Delivery information for Fresh Food Hampers/Gift Boxes
Hampers and Gift Boxes containing fresh food will be delivered between 8th and 23rd December, with the exception of the Chairman’s Choice and the Harrodian which will be delivered between 19th December and 23rd December 2005. We are unable to guarantee specific delivery dates.

Please note that all fresh food hampers are marked as such and the responsibility for the refrigeration of the perishable components lies with the recipient.

We are unable to delivery fresh food Hampers and Gift Boxes outside the UK.

Returns Information
Christmas Hampers are made to order and therefore cancellations or alterations of orders will only be permitted within 24 hours of ordering. Outside the stated period, except in relation to faulty or incorrectly supplied goods, refunds or exchanges cannot be given. Customers’ statutory rights to a refund of the purchase price or exchange for goods that are not of satisfactory quality, not fit for the purpose originally intended or not as described, are unaffected.

Christmas Hamper General Information
Your credit card will be charged on receipt of your order for Christmas Hampers and Gift Boxes and your hamper will be made to order for delivery within the specified window.

The term 'Hamper' is defined as a collection of food and/or non-food items packaged in a container such as printed cardboard box or wicker basket. The type of container presented with all Hampers is stated in the description.

Please note that for photographic purposes, props such as dishes, glasses and cutlery which have been used within the catalogue may not be included with the Hamper/Gift Box. All Hampers and Gift Boxes are itemised fully and are described fairly in the description of the catalogue.

All products are subject to availability. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, it is necessary to substitute an item, the item will be of equal or greater value than that of which it replaces.

Alcohol may only be sold to persons 18 years or older.

Gift Cards - Conditions of Use

The conditions of use as set out below and on the reverse of the Gift Card itself shall apply for the Gift Card. Please read these conditions of use in full before buying / using the Gift Card.

ABOUT GIFT CARDS

Harrods Gift Cards look like credit cards, but act like Gift Vouchers, there are 2 types:
• Fixed Value: available in denominations £25, £50 and £100
• Flexible Value: you can purchase any value between £10 and £10,000. For purchases of values over £250, our call centre may need to call you to authorise payment before you are able to purchase the Gift Card online

USING GIFT CARDS
• The Harrods Gift Card is redeemable in full or part payment for goods / services sold in Harrods Knightsbridge store only
• Harrods Gift Cards cannot be redeemed via telephone / mail order or on the internet
• You can only purchase a maximum of 5 cards in any one transaction
• The balance on this Gift Card may be used until either the balance is fully depleted or the Gift Card expires (which ever occurs sooner)
• Harrods Gift Cards will expire after 24 consecutive months of non-use. (‘Use’ for the purposes of this terms includes making a balance enquiry.) After this date you can obtain a replacement card for the remaining value by visiting our Knightsbridge store and returning the old Gift Card.
• You may check the expiry date of your Gift Card at Harrods Knightsbridge store or by calling 0870 730 4438
• A maximum card balance of £10,000 applies to all Gift Cards
• The Harrods Gift Card cannot be applied as a payment in relation to a Harrods Card Account
• For Amex and diners Card Holders, customers must call their bank to notify them before ordering should the delivery address be different from their card billing address
• Gift cards will be dispatched separately from other items on your order

HOW TO CHECK THE BALANCE
• When using the Gift Card, the balance will be displayed on the bottom of your receipt
• You may also check the balance of a Harrods Gift Card at Harrods Knightsbridge store or by calling 0870 730 4438

LOST OR STOLEN CARDS
• Harrods is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged Gift Cards, once issued. The Harrods Gift Card cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or damaged

RETURNS
• You cannot return a Harrods Gift Card or redeem it for cash
• Any refund of an item purchased using a Gift Card will be made in accordance with Harrods Returns Policy and will be credited onto a Harrods Shopping Credit. Please refer to our Returns Policy.
